Congratulations to Imogen Donegan, our poster winner 2024

‘I made this image by creating an ink sketch which I then digitally colouring. I love the textures achieved by using black ink on paper and the versatility of editing digitally. I used green and purple shades which are colours associated with Feminism and suffrage.

My artwork depicts 5 people who are positioned on-top of a missile which they have broken and prevented from reaping destruction. Together with courage and resilience they have broken down an inhumane weapon through their solidarity and struggle. My image reflects the power when people come together to fight for gender equality and the urgency of a ceasefire now.

My image attempts to reflect the spectrum of people involved in International Women’s Day- non-binary people, disabled people, parents, queer/trans people, children and people from all over the world from all kinds of backgrounds. I wanted to reflect the beauty that comes from diversity and acceptance.

On international Women's day we must fight for a just world that allows women and children to thrive.’

Congratulations to Kate Geddis

My interpretation of Medusa in the middle ground of the poster.

I chose to do a poster centred on Medusa’s story as she was used as a symbol of safety for women in ancient Greeks as well as being a well known symbol for female survivors of sexual assault.

Medusa’s story (depending on the interpretation you believe) also tends to resonate with the female experience.
