International Womens Day,
Belfast 2023

This year’s theme for International Women’s day NI was “Stand Up - Fight Back!”. We’ve had enough, the cost of living crisis has a more severe impact on women, the working classes, the LGBTQ+ community, and minorities. We called on you to join us and show our government and society that we will fight back against oppression and austerity. And we did it!

This year’s rally had over 1,000 people marching through Belfast City Centre from Writers Square to City Hall. Thanks to everyone who came down, with their friends, family, and pets. It was amazing to see so many creative banners.

Over 100+ events took place all over Northern Ireland, organized by various women’s organizations, youth groups, community groups, and trade unions.

Although International Women’s day is one day, with events throughout the whole month of March. Reclaim the Agenda continue to campaign all year round for equality in a progressive world.

We acknowledge support from Belfast City Council, UNISON, NIPSA, UCU the Equality Commission NI, the communication workers union and Unite. The support from these organisations is highly valued and allows us to continue to strive for equality.
