Crow Film Launch

Crow Film Launch

Email registration essential.

This launch is an opportunity for attendees to consider how the film might be used as a tool to address on-street sexual harassment.

Given the prevalence of this serious social issue, Crow employs immersive 360° filmmaking technology, coined as ‘the ultimate empathy machine’ (Milk, 2015), to place the audience inside in the experience of a female student as she walks through the city at night.

The launch will include a 2D-screening of the film as well as the opportunity to experience the film using VR headsets.

Please note that the content and themes discussed during this event may be upsetting or triggering, so individuals should only attend if they are comfortable doing so. As the film features instances of full-frontal nudity, this screening is limited to individuals who are at least 18 years of age and is invitation only.

Due the sensitive nature of the film and to protect our actors and audience, no photography or filming is permitted during the screening.

Please email Dr Jolene Mairs Dyer on j.mairs-dyer@ulster.ac.uk to confirm your attendance.

New report launch: Built to Harm: how women's prisons take lives

Join INQUEST's launch of a brand new report, Built to harm: how women's prisons take lives. The webinar will take place on Monday 1 December, 13:00 - 14:00.

The report examines the circumstances of seven recent deaths in women’s prisons and situates them within decades of systemic failure. It exposes how the women’s prison estate continues to harm and fail those it imprisons, despite years of calls for change.

Through detailed case studies and statistical analysis of deaths and self-harm in women’s prisons between 2018 and 2024, Built to Harm reveals recurring and entrenched issues - from the failure to believe women in crisis, to dangerous shortcomings in prison processes, and the continued use of imprisonment as the default response to social inequality.

INQUEST are hosting a webinar to mark the launch of this report. Attendees will hear from:

  • Oceana, campaigner and daughter of Kay Melhuish who died following neglect at HMP Eastwood Park

  • Tanya Tracey, incoming Director of Services at Birth Companions and co-chair of the Agenda Alliance board, an intersectional feminist organisation

  • Jessica Pandian, Deborah Coles, and Mo Mansfield of INQUEST
