16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence 2025
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. This year’s UN theme is “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls”. Read more here.
Over the 16 Days Reclaim the Agenda will be sharing Blogs from various organisations and campaigns on different topics relating to Gender Based Violence.
We launched our programme on November 25 at the MAC with a discussion on ending violence against all women and girls, including the particular experiences of disabled, LGBTQ+ and migrant women. The event concluded with a screening of the short film Removed, which highlights how immigration detention can deepen trauma — including abuse and gender-based violence. Afterward, we joined the Where’s Our Safe Leave rally at Stormont, organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU).
Check back until 10th December for blogs covering legislative changes, exploring different forms of gender based violence, and new research. We also have a programme of events and our Reclaim the Night march and rally taking place on 29 November. This year there will be sister marches in Derry/Londonderry and Newry.
